So we’ve been living in Japan for a few months now in Kagawa. In the US I used white vinegar for EVERYTHING, it’s amazing for cleaning, deodorizing, laundry supplement, etc. However, I haven’t been able to find it anywhere here so far?? I can find a million other different types of vinegar in every grocery store I’ve been to, but no true white vinegar. I’ve tried using other types but it just isn’t the same 🙁 Has anyone else seen it in their store, and if so, which store? TIA!!

You either:
1. Buy it online (or costco or Kaldi) at in inflated price
2. Use citric acid, which is what Japanese tend to do.
Sometimes the A-price in Takamatsu has distilled white vinegar, a vietnamese brand
Donki!
I do pickling with white vinegar, and I buy the Heinz 5L bottle from Amazon. It’s about 3000円.
Edit: corrected 5L (not 5 gal).
Daiso sells white vinegar as a herbicide in the gardening section. Even says Vinegar Herbicide in english on the front label. I’ve been using it on mineral buildup.
Be careful using vinegar as a cleaning agent here. It will destroy plastics over time. This is of particular concern when it comes to plumbing.
