Finally asking something I wanted to ask for a long time but somehow never did.
When I watch videos from, for example, Nagano 1998 Olympics, in every one of them you can hear almost constant sound made by fans’ horns, like in the video linked below. What are these horns called? I never heard such a sound outside of Japanese sports events. Thanks.

They were just, uh, horns? Which was the style at the time, but you don’t see them sold very much (if at all?) these days.
