As was [previously discussed](https://old.reddit.com/r/japanlife/comments/y9eb8u/if_you_are_were_on_the_waiting_list_for_a_ps5/), Amazon has a reservation system for the PS5. I had added my name into the reservation system many weeks ago and finally was contacted that I could order. So it does work- but it can take many weeks.

Mine took months. I made it before the price increase so when it came though a couple of weeks ago I decided I didn’t want it any more…
Sony’s loss. They should have made more available in Japan.
Congrats. I finally got mine from Bic Camera after months of trying and my husband got his from Yamada Denki. Amazon always came up zilch for us.
I’ve been on the reservation list for over a year now? (or whenever it first started) and still nothing.
I had to re-do my reservations a couple of months back when the PS5 SKUs changed. So I feel like I somehow got kicked to the back of the line once again.
I’ve been signed up since within the first 2 weeks of the reservation system so sometime in the summer? I think mid-July or so, and still have not ever gotten an e-mail for any version or bundles.
I appreciate that Amazon allows pretty much anyone to sign up, but I wish it were a waitlist rather than lottery. Some people got theirs the same week they signed up, but some of us have been waiting for half a year.
Ended up biting the bullet and buying from a reseller. It was more than I wanted to spend, but I used my American card for it so it kind of evened out due to the weak yen.
