Diagnosed with an inguinal hernia….Gonna need to get it fixed in like three months. Wondering how much it’ll cost got me thinking, how much are various surgeries in Japan?
I know there are online estimates, but I’m wondering if anyone can give their own experiences with paying on various insurances. I have shakai hoken as I imagine most of us do, but has anyone paid out of pocket? How much did it put you back?

Apply for a 限度額適用認定証 at your city hall or welfare center. There’s a limit on how much you’re required to pay depending on your salary. Anything above that is paid by insurance.
