I am canadian citizen, and I would like to apply for working holiday program by 2024. The thing is that I don’t have a 4 year degree. I only have 2 year associates degree.
I am learning Japanese, and hope to get N2 before moving there.
My mother tongue is Korean, and grammar structure is very similar with Japanese.
I have two concerns
1. Since I don’t have degree, I’m worries if a lack of education is holding me back from getting most jobs available for young people. Also, I don’t have IT or and specific skills. I think my 2 year degree would be enough for short-term stay, but I don’t know if I can stay there longer than that
2 I am worried about anti-korean sentiment in Japan
Since my last name is common Korean last name, I am worried about daily micro aggression coming from Japanese people.

Associate degree might be fine since i’m pretty much the same, and working here under work visa.
Should be equal to senmon gakko I think. Just make sure the work is related to your degree.
A working holiday has no education requirements, so shouldn’t have any issues getting work for the year you’d be here.
If you wanted to stay longer than a year, that’s where things become challenging.
Many years ago I was able to get an engineer visa using a three year diploma program in Computer Science from Canada. I was told at the time that because it was three years they considered it equivalent to a Japanese vocational school diploma.
If you wanted to continue working in the English education industry immigration would almost certainly require a bachelor’s degree. But beyond that, if your education is relevant it’s likely going to come down to your specific case worker and their relationship with your sponsor.
