Not much information online as this seems to vary depending on the company. I am in Japan on a Working Holiday Visa, renting a car with my International drivers license has been no issue until recently when my entry landing permission stamp in my passport expired. Toyota rental car is saying I am unable to rent a car as this is expired, however I still have a current International drivers permit, residence card valid for another 6 months and visa validity for another 6 months.
Does anyone know of a work around for this/ companies that don’t care about the landing permission stamps dates?

Take this with a grain of salt as I am no expert. And I am on a student visa so slightly different circumstances. But I was told that as I am a resident I could only use my IDP for one month and then needed a Japanese license to drive anywhere, and thus also to rent cars.
Depending on where you are from that could be a super simple or super long and complicated process.
All that to say I am not sure there is a workaround. But I am well open for someone to correct me.
