Male ALT’s with long hair?

Helloo, wondered if anyone here is a male ALT and managed to get away with long hair? Lots of places saying professional attire is suit and tie with short hair. Mine hangs just above my shoulders and don’t really want to have to go short back and sides :/ anyone have any luck saving their locks? Or how much leniency is their on “short” hair, could I have slighter short*er* hair?

Many fanks

  1. From what I’ve heard, keep it clean and neat, maybe in a bun or something similar. Coupled with otherwise decent appearance and performance at work, nobody should care. Check your contract/employee guidelines, though.

  2. Tbh, it really depends on a number of factors. I work at Seiha and sport a red mowhawk, and although it technically violates the dress code, basically nobody gives a shit.

I can get away with it because none of the students or parents complain (and many have complimented me on it), our normal dress code isn’t formal, and I’m good at what I do.

If this was a company with a more formal attire requirement, I’d undoubtedly have to hide it. For long hair, it basically comes down to what others have suggested: tying it in a bun and generally having a well-groomed appearance. Also, make DAMN sure you’re good at your job, because companies are more willing to let minor things slip with you if you happen to be good at your job and make them lots of money.

  3. Do you use Timotei?

I suspect that many of the dudes with luxuriant flowing locks here do.

Pro-Tip: Wear reading glasses, even if don’t need them. Then, when someone asks you something, take your glasses off while simultaneously swishing your mane like a wild stallion. Their knees will tremble.

  4. There’s a chance there will be people who won’t like it.

Just don’t worry about it though. You don’t need to cut your hair to make other people comfortable. They wouldn’t go through the same lengths for you, so don’t do it for them.
