Hey folks, sorry if this has been asked before! Im an incoming Nagasaki-ken ALT. Anyone have any idea when we can expect to know our exact placement location? Will the BoE contact us directly? Thanks a ton!
I don’t know what things will be like now, but I was in your situation in 2019. It took roughly a month for me to get an email from the prefectural BOE about which school I was going to. Then a couple of weeks after that, I was asked if I wanted my predecessor to email me.
On the last day of orientation all the prefectural JETs for your prefecture will be gathered in a room and you’ll have to janken (rock paper scissors) for the placements you want. Returning JETs love to bet on it, it’s quite fun!

You will be contacted by your BOE at this point. JET, at this point, has passed you onto your employer and you are in their hands now. It took me about a month to get my placement so late june/early july.
