Hello everyone,
My friend and I were planning the trip these past days, and here is our plan so far, it’s kinda a rough sketch tho!
Day 1-5
Tokyo
We are planning to go to the main attractions like TeamLab Planets, shibuya crossing, scientific museum… and exploring Tokyo to be frank. We are also planning a day trip to Nikko to go to Edo Wonderland.
Day 6-7
Travel to Fuji-kawaguchiko
Fuji-Q Highland, hiking and sightseeing mostly.
Day 8-9
Travel to Takayama Okuhida Onsengo Hirayu
Ryokan and Shinhotako Ropeway
Day 10-16
Travel to Kyoto
Exploring Kyoto and doing some activities, also visting Osaka and Nara from Kyoto. Of course we are going to to USJ!
Day 17-20
Back to Tokyo
Doing the big shopping for souvenirs and big purchases before leaving Japan, and also we’ll visit Akihabra.
My biggest issue while planning is the transportations, especially from Fuji-kawaguchiko to Takayama. There are many routes and too many ways to get there and we are afraid to get lost or we pay extra for something that will waste our time.
Any recommendations and tips are appreciated
Thank you

Fuji-Kawaguchiko to Takayama is a long journey by public transit no matter how you slice it. There used to be a direct bus but it closed in the pandemic. I would expect the best way is bus to Kofu, train to Matsumoto, bus to Hirayu. It will take 4-5 hrs depending on which train you get. Stop in Matsumoto for lunch and see the castle.
Also with your plans to see Nikko if the theme park is the main thing you could do Toei Eigamura instead, it’s closer.
Enjoy your trip!
