What’s the most wholesome yet seemingly unintentional moment you’ve witnessed in person or participated in?

Mine was when I heard an elderly woman scream “やった” when she was playing with her… I am not sure if her opponent is her daughter or a friend of hers who’s much younger. They were playing what looks like Go. It was out of nowhere, I was just relaxing while drinking tea, and when I heard that elderly woman scream in joy while raising her hands, those 2 seconds of noticing that… seemed like it was the most unintentionally wholesome thing I’ve seen so far, and I’m fortunate to have seen a lot of wholesome things in my stay in Japan, but this one just beats them out. I guess maybe because I have a soft spot for the elderly.

What’s yours?

  1. Butchering a deer carcass with firemen in the community center kitchen on a concrete floor wearing vinyl slippers in winter , it took hours, my hands and feet hurt for days….
