36 hours in Tokyo with a toddler

Hi. I hope this is not a low effort post. I had an opportunity for a 36hr (6am day-1 to 7pm day-2) layover at Haneda and took it since I’ve always wanted to visit Japan. I’m having trouble planning as
1) it’s early feb and would be cold. I’m not sure how many outdoor places are worth going to.
2) I have a 2yo so can’t stay at any location. I suppose it’s better to stay near a train station with direct access to Haneda and I don’t want to waste time commuting. Should I just look at Shinjuku, Shibuya, Shinagawa or Chiyoda for hotels near the transit lines? Any suggestions? From what I’m reading Roppongi isn’t a place to go with a toddler. Pls correct me if I’m mistaken.
3) Also I’m not sure where to go that would be toddler friendly.
4) might be a smaller issue but all of us are vegetarians.😂
5) I would love to take the Shinkansen somewhere but understand if not possible.
Now I’m doubting myself if I made the right call. Any help/ suggestions please?

  2. 1- Yes, cold, but usually should not be under freezing temperatures.

2- Roppongi is not a place for toddler if you plan to go to night clubs in Roppongi. In that sense, Shinjuku and Shibuya would also be nice nightlife spots…. but if you don’t have the intention to go to nightlife spots, I do not especially see the problem. And you you want direct access bu the limousine bus or by train/monorail ? If the later, then select something close ot one of the station on these line, like Shinagawa.

5- It’s possible… but kind of pointless. You could do Shinagawa to Shin-Yokohama for 2700 yen and it’S a 10 minutes, next is Odawara for 3630 yen and 26 minutes. Oh, that is just one way ride… I personally do not think it’s especially worth the cost, but that’s up to you to decide.
