What is the Tai objective form? – たさ

Could someone explain to me what the tai objective form is and how it is used?

見たい ➡️ 見たさ
書きたい ➡️ 書きたさ

What does this conjugation change compared to the original tai form?

Thanks 🙏

  1. 書く (write)

    書きたい (want to write)

    書きたさ (the want**ing to write)**

this さ is the objective nomalisation of adjetives.

  2. Since たい is an adjective, I would imagine the さ is doing it’s normal function of turning it into a quantifiable noun.

強い (strong) -> 強さ (physical “measurable” strength)

見たい (want to see) -> 見たさ (the physical “measurable” act of wanting to see? Not sure how to phrase it, I just woke up)

    There’s also み

強い -> 強み (unmeasurable strength, the more subjective “idea” of strength)

You can read more about it [here](https://maggiesensei.com/2017/04/17/the-difference-between-%E3%81%95-%E3%81%BF-sa-mi-suffixes-to-make-a-noun/#mobilemenu)

  3. I can’t ever recall seeing たい nominalized, and can’t find examples of it online either. Where did you see this?
