Itsukushima Shrine, Peace Museum, and Dogo Onsen?

Will spend 2 days in the Hiroshima area and there are three things I really want to do.

– see Itsukushima Shrine in both low and high tides
– Peace Museum and related landmarks
– Dogo onsen

I can’t for the life of me devise an itinerary that accomplishes this. Below is the closest I got but that leaves scant time for the Peace Museum. Should I just cut out Dogo onsen?

Day 1 Sunday —–

12pm leave Hakata Station

2:30pm Itsukushima Shrine low tide

3-4pm ferry

4-5pm Peace Museum

Day 2 Monday —–

9:30-11am Itsukushima Shrine high tide

11am-2:30pm ferry

2:30-7pm Dogo onsen

Return to Hiroshima

Have to leave Hiroshima 8am on Day 3.

  1. If you get to Hiroshima early enough, you should be able to do the museum in the morning then head to Miyajima for low tide. You can just stick around for the tide to come in. That’s what my friends and I did…I think.

  2. I think that including Dogo onsen is quite ambitious. Really don’t think it’s worth it. And going to Miyajima twice… nah. I would just go to Hiroshima for the first day and spend the whole day in Miyajima so you have time to explore and see high and low tide on the same day.
