  1. you learn what they mean and not just how to pronounce them. Also the correct one is the only real wordin this set of four, there is only one other homonym according to my dictionary, and it’s an esoteric religious term

  2. only one is a real word, simple as that

    you can’t invent words just because a kanji reading happens to match

    likewise you can’t read kanji, you can only read words

  3. It sounds like maybe you shouldn’t bother trying to learn Japanese if you’re going to deny the reality of the writing system and be offended that you have to memorize things that are hard to memorize. 🤷

  4. On a side note, I personally hate that font. I’ve got the same on my phone and I find it very misleading! It’s probably not the best when learning kanji for the first time.

  5. You have to know the meaning of the Kanji. In this case, the bottom left was the correct option, as it means “photo.”
