Do I understand this plan correctly?

I’m looking to sign up for an unlimited plan and only really found Docomo to be unlimited. Softbank for example seems to throttle after 30GB. Or are there other real unlimited ones?

So Docomos [English](https://www.docomo.ne.jp/english/charge/5g-gigaho-premier/) website and google translate on the [Japanese](https://www.docomo.ne.jp/charge/5g-gigaho-premier/) one I’m understanding those details:

– Works in 5G and 4G areas

– truly unlimited data unless there is congestion in the network

– not locked into years of contract, going month by month

– comes with phone number and calling function at Â¥22/30sec

– cost Â¥7,315 per month

– if you used less than 3GB it’ll only charge Â¥5,665

Are those details correct?

I couldn’t find any details for payment options, do foreign cards work? For example my Revolut Debit Mastercard which holds Yen?

  1. May I suggest Rakuten mobile unlimit? I use it every day, free 5 min phone calls, small fee after ten minutes, unlimited date at a teired price scheme (20gb rate is like 3500yen I think, I have never used that much myself). Its so cheap and works fine!

  2. I think the throttle on Softbank is only on tethering. I’ve used Softbank for years, tethering, streaming, downloading, and without being throttled – except for a limit on tethering.

As I am often in the US for work trips, I like that it can connect to the Sprint network as part of your regular contract too.

  3. Rakuten mobile has real unlimited but in their coverage areas. It’s a relatively new carrier so they’re still expanding their coverage. No problems in large cities whatsoever, but could have spotty coverage in very inaka areas.

Docomo has the best coverage and fastest speed

For payments, you never really know if your card works until you try it.

  4. The throttling is after 30G of tethering, as in turning on your hotspot and using that. Other than that my internet is unlimited and got the basic voice plan, and I pay an extra 880 yen for free domestic calls under 5 minutes and a voicemail service. Total around 8k or less.

  5. au has a similar one, actually pretty much exactly the same as docomo. I think it’s called like max 4g something, but beware cuz I always end up paying like ï¿¥8700
