Itinerary Check (March 10-24) Tokyo- Oshino- Osaka- Tokyo


I realize I wont be able to do everything on the list, I’m just looking for suggestions and tips.

I was going to get a 1 week JR pass and start using it in Osaka then do the Osaka amazing pass, and Hakone freepass. Does that sound okay?

**Day 1**

* Prob land in the late afternoon.
* Get Suica/pasmo card
* Transportation: Get train to shinjuku station nearest to hotel
* Check into hotel, start exploring
* Transportation: 10 min walk to
* Activity: Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden right next to Activity: Meiji Jingu Gaien (9 Min Walk) closes at 4pm
* Activity: Kabukicho District, neon lights all over, Red Light District, best at dusk, Godzilla
* Activity: Golden Gai for Nightlife (tons of small bars)

**Day 2**

* Activity: Meiji Shrine. Either before or after breakfast (1-2 hrs)
* Activity: The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace (2-3 hrs)
* Activity: Akihabara (Weeb central) (2-4 hrs)
* Activity: Sensō-ji Shrine/ Kaminarimon Gate at Night. Nakamise Shopping Street after or before. It’s right next to it. (2-4 hrs)
* Activity: Shibuya Crossing/ Shibuya Center Gai for Shopping
* Dinner: Nabezo Hot Pot. All you can eat/ drink in 100 mins **$30- $40**. **Must make reservations**
* Activity: Shibuya Sky Observation Deck for scenic views from the city at sunset **$11**

**Day 3**

* Breakfast: A Happy Pancake (Thicc Voluptuous Pancakes) (1 hr) **Must make reservations**
* Activity: Teamlabs planets **$21** (2 hrs)
* Transportation: 10 min walk to —->
* Lunch: Toyosu Market
* Activity: Gundam Factory in Yokohama. About an hour from city center **$22**
* Dinner: Yokohama Chinatown. Street food with a lot of options. One of the largest chinatowns in japan

**DAY 4: Hakone Day trip**

* Store luggage somewhere in Hakone (train ride 1 ½ – 2 hours. Consider Hakone freepass **$44** 2 day pass covers transportation and discounts entry into museums)
* Lake Ashi walk to Hakone shrine/ Torii gate
* Transportation: Walk back to Moto Hakone Port for a boat ride across the lake
* Walk from Togendai Port to Ropeway station
* Activity: Owakudani Sulphur vents (try to black boiled eggs) Ropeway to Sounzan station
* Transportation: Cable car to Gora station (food). Possibly picnic somewhere
* Hakone open air museum **$10**
* Make our way to airbnb in Oshino

**Day 5**

* Arrive from Hakone
* Walk around Oshino
* Activity: Oshino Hakkai, a small village setting consisting of 8 small ponds fed by runoff via Mt. Fuji
* Activity: Yamanakako Hananomiyako Park if flowers are blooming or Visit Lake Yamanakako
* Dinner: Maybe by the lake ?

Day 6

* Transportation: Bus to Activity: Arakurayama Sengen Park
* Activity: Lake Kawaguchi
* Activity: Mt. Tenjō Ropeway
* Activity: Chureito Pagoda
* Transportation: Bus back to Airbnb

**Day 7**

* Transportation: Oshino to Yaminashi, Yaminashi to Activity: Shosenyo Gorge. Gorge itself on a 1 ½ hour walk with a cable car that goes to a temple at the top of the mountain. Shops and food at the end too.

* Activity: Shuttle to Mt. Fuji 5th station. Halfway up Mt. Fuji

**Day 8 Acclimate to Osaka**

* Transportation: Bus to Mishima Station, Shinkansen to Osaka (Approx 4 hrs of travel time)
* Transportation: via JR Line. Approx 30 mins to —>
* Activity: Shinsekai Shopping district and Tsutenkaku Tower. (right next to each other
* Activity: Explore the city. 20 min River cruise that we gotta book in advance (comes free with the pass we are getting)
* Activity: Nanba District for nightlife (includes Dotonbori) 20 min walk

**Day 9**

* Transportation: 35 min via train To —>
* Activity: Osaka Castle (you can go on the boat in the moat via the pass schedule when you get there)
* Transportation: Train to Nara (1 Hour)
* Activity: Nara Park
* Transportation: Train (1 Hour) to—>
* Activity: [Fushimi Inari Shrine](https://www.touristinjapan.com/fushimi-inari-shrine/) (if no time we can do this the next day)

**Day 10 Outdoorsy hiking day. Lots of stairs**

* Transportation: 45 mins via train
* Activity: Arashiyama Bamboo forest and monkey park. Best to get there early to avoid crowds. (2-3 hrs to complete 1.8 mile hike)

* Activity: Hanamikoji Street. Historic district with traditional buildings, kimono shops, restaurants & geisha. Towards sunset would be nice

**Day 11Hiroshima Day trip. Gon get an earlyish train to maximize our time**

* Breakfast:
* Activity: Atomic Bomb Dome
* Lunch: Okonomimura
* Transportation: via ferry to Miyajima Matsudai-kisen Ferry Terminal
* Activity: hike around and sightsee Miyajima
* Transportation: Miyajima Ropeway to Shishiiwa Observatory or hike
* Activity: Itsukushima Floating Torii Gate
* Activity: Itsukushima Shrine

**Day 12**

* Transportation: 1.5 hrs via train
* Activity: Himeji Castle. Biggest castle in Japan and 8th biggest in the world

Day 13-14 Tokyo

* Shinkansen in the morning to Tokyo
* Activity: Nakameguro Cherry Blossom Illuminations 2023 (cherry blossoms illuminated with lights)
* Activity: Sumida Park Cherry Blossom Festival (with Tokyo tower as backdrop)
