I might need to stay away from my apartment during one year and I would like to avoid paying the rent myself during its unused period and also be able to get it back easily afterwards. Of course I will first need to get an authorization from the owner but I need to know what my options are.

Subletting is usually prohibited in the contract. Basically if the landlord says ok then it’s ok.
The only hard part is creating a good enough rental contract or hope he/she is a really really good friend. By default all rental agreements are “normal” non fixed term agreements so if it really comes down to it, forcing him/her out will be difficult.
Most likely, your rental contract forbids you doing something like that.
And with my long experience with Japanese landlords, I think is would be very unlikely that they will be flexible or do anything that is even slightly outside of the norm in Japan. Even if they are offered a large financial incentive.
I’ve seen apartments left empty for months or even years because the landlord didn’t want to accept a rental agreement that was even slightly different to the norm.
I could use another place to take some girls back to.
