  1. If the thefts occur a loss of less than ¥1193/ hour, continuing this model would be more profitable than paying a worker the going rate. To add, convenience stores even usually have more than 1 worker on at a time. So the rate of theiving could be even higher and the store could still make out well.

    This is not to say I support the thieves, but the store operator does not have the level of hardship we are led on to believe.
