The XBB.1.5 Covid variant is now (as of Jan 2,2023) responsible for more than 40% of all cases in the U.S. I suspect that’s the same here in Japan. Modeling suggests it may be the deadliest wave in this pandemics history, exceeding all previous waves.
We can ignore it (dumb) or continue precautions against it (smart).
Is there any good site with information breaking down the deaths? How many are death with covid versus death by covid? How many deaths are in excess to a “normal” December? What % of the deaths are among unvaccinated, 1 shot, 2 shots, 3, 4 etc.? And finally what are the ages of the people who are dying?
7,688 covid-19 deaths is not a very illuminating piece of information.
