A few years ago there was a lot of news about the ‘herbivore men’ 草食男子, Sōshoku danshi, especially with the declining number of marriages and births. But I haven’t seen much about them recently, in the English press anyway.
Are herbivore men still a societal concern in Japan? Have the numbers been increasing or decreasing?

In my observation it’s still very much a thing as much as it ever was but as the declining population problems grow ever deeper, people are growing wise to the governments attempt to find easy scapegoats and demanding (well. Quietly possibly maybe requesting) actual action.
I’m sure there is a normal ratio of normal dudes who love to fuck. Population decline is because of salary and career progression, not an abundance of guys who hate icky sexy time.
