Partner and I are planning our trip and I wanted to get some feedback! Mainly just to see if the route seems logical and none of the days are too packed (or not packed enough.) or if I’m missing anything important.
I have been to Japan once before but this will be my partner’s first time, so we’re trying to visit a lot of iconic places! I have been to Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto but Hiroshima and Hakone will be new to me.
General Notes:
* Partner is a big Evangelion fan so we wanna visit related places
* I’m vegetarian and ate mostly konbini food last trip, so i’m looking for vegetarian-friendly restaurants this time (suggestions appreciated!)
**Day 1**
* Land in Narita at 5pm
* Pick up JR pass/pocket wifi, get Suica card, exchange some USD for yen
* Get to hotel near Tokyo station.
* Relax/walk around/have dinner.
**Day 2**
* Akihabara (shop/browse, there’s a curry place here I want to try)
* Ueno (Ueno park/zoo)
* Asakusa (Senso-ji, Nakamise st.)
* Eat at Kirby Cafe in Skytree (need to make reservation)
**Day 3**
* Relaxed/free morning in Tokyo. Tsukiji fish market?
* Shinkansen to Kyoto in afternoon. **Activate JR Pass**
* Check into hotel in downtown Kyoto; explore central area- Nijo Castle, Pontocho
**Day 4**
* Western Kyoto- Arashiyama (Bamboo groves, monkey park, tenryuji, adashino nenbutsuji?)
**Day 5**
* Day trip to Osaka- Shitennoji, shinsekai, denden town, dotonbori
**Day 6**
* Eastern Kyoto- Kiyomizu-dera, Higashiyama
* Go to Fushimi-Inari at nighttime
**Day 7**
* Day trip to Hiroshima- Peace park, Miyajima (Itsukushima Shrine)
**Day 8**
* Toei Kyoto Studio Park (For the Evangelion Kyoto Base) I’m confused how tickets for this work, do they need to be bought in advance?
* Shinkansen back to Tokyo. Check into Shinjuku hotel. \*do laundry here
* Rest of day is free, relax, maybe go to a bathhouse
**Day 9**
* Get breakfast, do something until around noon
* Go to AnimeJapan at Tokyo Big Sight.
* **JR pass expires**
**Day 10**
* Go to Hakone from Shinjuku station, via Romance Car, buy Hakone Free Pass
* Get to Ryokan near Hakone-Yumoto station, though it will probably be too early to check in so find a way to store luggage there?
* Do Hakone loop, Yumoto->Gora->Togendai->Ferry->Back to Ryokan (lots of Evangelion sightseeing here)
**Day 11**
* Back to hotel in Shinjuku.
* Shibuya (crossing/main street)
* Harajuku (shopping/Meiji Jingu)
* End night in Shinjuku (bars/arcades/karaoke)
**Day 12**
* Anime goods shopping day! Fill up our luggage.
* Ikebukuro, Akihabara, Nakano Broadway
* Relax and enjoy our final night :,)
**Day 13**
* Pack, eat, do any final shopping/revisit any places if needed
* Leave for Narita at around 2:30 pm
