Hi, I’m new to this subreddit so I hope this is the correct platform to post this, if not sorry I will delete the post.
So I have been living in Japan for 5 months for a study exchange and will have to leave at the end of January. However, I am really confused about 2 things I have to do before leaving. I am not sure if people have had to leave and come back later sometime which can answer this.
But here we go: Regarding the national health insurance and the residence location, I will have to stop the first one at the ward office and for the second one, I also have to go to the ward office to let them know I do not live there anymore from date X. How many days before the actual date you fly back can u go do this? Sources online tell me a lot of different things so I am looking for places to ask this before going to the ward office. I am not sufficiently proficient in Japanese to call them and ask either yet sadly.

I helped a friend to fill the move out notice a few years ago, we were able to do that 1 week in advance.
