Looking to get into street photography a bit more than using my iPhone – any camera recommendations for a beginner? Or recommendations on where to buy a second hand camera (Akihabara?), budget pretty flexible.

Fuji film mirrorless cameras, I found were great for street photography. Low profile, light weight.
Absolute most unobtrusive would be the Ricoh GR series. Truly designed made specifically for street photography. Both Fujifilm fixed and interchangeable lense cameras are great, as are Pentax dslrs with a compact prime lens. There all different animals that’d produce top results. I’d suggest seeing which system fits your style best. Check out Kitamura cameras website.
Seconding fujifilm cameras.
Mapcamera Shinjuku has English speaking staff if you’re not comfortable in Japanese. I’m partial to Nikon. So for budget, Nikon z50 or its stylish twin, the zfc. Fujifilm x100 series is also good.
If you want an excellent cheap entry point then Sony a6400 but do remember it’s APS-C (good idea to read up about the difference between crop lenses and full frame lenses and what happens when you put full frame lenses on your crop camera). If you’re willing to pay a bit more for the best lightweight full frame camera on the market then a7c.
X100V is a wonderful camera, I keep wanting to buy one as a walk around camera because my Canon is huge..
Map camera is where I buy all my gear! If love to see some other suggestions for used gear
Love Sony RX100VA. It’s light, compact, has a view finder, flippable display, flash, etc. If you want more zoom, you can try the latest one, mark 7

This seems like a post about shopping, maybe your question is solved by [the wiki page](https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/wiki/shopping)?
