overseas bank accounts to deduct rent

hii .
im currently in the process of renting a new place as an international student. my agency has just requested i bring in a “registered seal” and “identification of the account “ ( 家賃引落を行う銀行口座がわかるものとその口座のお届出印 ) that i want to deduct my rent from. but that account is my bank account issued from my country overseas and im wondering how do i get the seal ? or how do i present the identification of the account to them ?

and also is it possible to transfer funds to another bank account through JP Post bank ゆうちょう銀行 ?

im not sure if i worded it right, but please do tell me if u need me to make it clearer.

  1. They will not be able to deduct rent from an overseas bank account. You will need to specify a Japanese bank account.

  2. They are expecting you to bring your 印鑑 and your bank book showing your name, account number, and bank branch number for doing money transfers. You need both a personal seal for stamping official documents and a Japanese bank account to do just about any kind of financial transaction here.

  3. I believe the “registered seal” your agency is referring to is a seal that has been registered at your local municipal office. First, you’ll need any seal that matches your legal name. If you don’t have a seal, there are many hanko stores you can go to that can make a custom seal with your name on it. Then, submit the required paperwork, and pay a registration fee at your local municipal office.

The “identification of the account” sounds like the agency is expecting you to present a bank book or cash card for a Japanese bank account. In that case, you’ll need a Japanese bank account and won’t be able to use an overseas-based bank account. Never heard of any company that accepts payment from an overseas-based bank account for rent. Best you confirm the details with your agency.

  4. I was informed transfering from JP account would require at least 6 months stay before they allow it.

I dont know about deducting from foreign account but for them to be able to deduct money from your JP account, you need to match the identification to the one you used when you sign up for JP account. Its either a stamp or sign.
