Emergency return to US – questions about COVID, etc.

Hi all, I know this topic has been done to death, but. A family member passed away and I’m flying Osaka to Honolulu tomorrow evening (*edit: this is my first trip to the US in five years, so I’ve never traveled during COVID times*), and I’m scrambling to get everything together for the trip. I wanted to ask here if in my haste to get ready I’m missing anything I need for the trip from Japan to the US and back.

* I’m vaxxed twice and boosted (PR holder as well), so I’ll fill out the Fast Track thing today for my re-entry to Japan. I understand that if that goes through OK I’ll be good to re-enter Japan without any quarantine, etc. Is this correct?
* As a US citizen, for entry into the US, I don’t need anything in particular aside from the CDC forms, no?
* Is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Again, sorry for yet another post like this but I just don’t have the time nor mental strength right now to do an exhaustive search. I really appreciate any help you guys can give me.

  1. To America, nothing. Just passport and tickets.
To Japan, paper proof of vaccines if you can’t or forget to register on the visit Japan web page thing before your flight

  2. As a US citizen you don’t need anything but your passport to get into the US. You should be able to find rules by country on your airline’s website. At least I know United has a tool.

  3. You can get your city hall to print out your proof of vaccination on a sheet of paper that includes a big QR code. You can use that for the fast track thing to re-enter Japan.
