What’s your process when you see a new Kanji?

I’m just finishing up Genki 1, and alongside my background knowledge I’ve been able to tackle some of the level 1 Tadoku graded readers, and I’ve also been able to guess the general idea of sentences in other media I’ve consumed. But I’d like to be able to efficiently learn new vocabulary I stumble upon.

I’ve been doing decently just throwing all the new vocab into an Anki deck and memorizing them, but I feel like that method will catch up to me when I’m studying hundreds of Kanji. So what ways do you guys use to efficiently study new vocabulary?

  1. I did RTK. So I see new kanji -> look it up -> figure out radicals and the word meaning -> drill. Most new kanji I have are 90% retention or better. Many of the kanji I know are not even in in RTK3.
