I’m currently getting my Spouse Visa (married to Japanese national), and we are in the U.S. We are moving to Fukuoka in April, and we thought that we would be able to use a place like Unito that can give us a temporary Certificate of Residence so that we can stay there for a month or so while looking for housing nearby. This is apparently because we can’t rent a place without a certificate of residence, so how do we get residence without already residing in Japan? For whatever reason, Unito required us to verify our identity but only allowed passports earlier than February 2020. Both of ours were renewed after that.
Are there other places we can try? Would be a gray area to use a friend’s home as our place of residence or a family member’s?
