I’m too old for MEXT (even for research studies and I don’t qualify for an [exemption](https://www.mext.go.jp/content/20210510-mxt_gakushi02-000014806-02.pdf)). I’ve looked over the [JASSO list](https://www.studyinjapan.go.jp/en/_mt/2022/04/3500fb71fcef9dde65fe53c1baa1befd4743b371.pdf) and am disqualified from a bunch of those too (either too old, don’t come from one of the designated countries, etc.)
There are a handful from that list I’ll try to pursue but I was wondering if anyone else might have had any leads on other funding opportunities I could dig into towards a graduate degree.

So, many universities have funding. For example, PhD at Tokyo tech has their own funding (and pays far better than MEXT). Research funding for each university and see what there is.
