I’m an American Student living in Japan and as such am always looking at discounts/rewards programs/memberships etc. so I decided to get a T-Point Card as it was inexpensive and theoretically would help me get cashback from places like FamilyMart. After spending a few bucks to get a card, I went to register it but was faced with the hurdle of needing a Yahoo Japan ID. In my attempt to try and make an account, I found myself unable to progress as I’m using an international phone plan rather than a Japanese one. When entering my phone number on the Yahoo Japan registration, I’m met with the error 数字11桁で入力してください。 I’m entering my number, even with the 1 to signify its an American cell number as well as fill in all 11 digits it asks for, but the error simply says the same thing. I can only assume that because its not a domestic number, that Yahoo Japan doesn’t want to send an SMS verification. I saw a few other posts about this topic, but none since the 2021 update to Yahoo Japan’s TOS that *requires* a phone number. Any solutions in those posts haven’t worked for me, hence me making a new one.

I feel as though I jumped the gun a bit and didn’t realize the nightmare of hoops I’d have to jump through just for a rewards card. Is there anything I can try/should do?

They updated guidelines a long time ago, you need a phone number to register the card online. The card itself will still work, you just can’t add it to the T Point app.
