Why do

I am ***not*** asking what onyomi is.

Why do some dictionaries have onyomi, and some will say none exists for a kanji?

Example: 夕

Some dictionaries will say there is no onyomi. Others say the onyomi is せき.

  2. If there’s no on-yomi, it means it’s an original Japanese kanji. It doesn’t have a Chinese reading, because it doesn’t exist in Chinese.
