thread for physical & mental health resources for english-speakers in Japan

i recently learned about some resources designed to support foreigners in japan and wanted to start a thread here for people to add to:

1. MENTAL HEALTH: TELL Japan: an english-speaking lifeline as well as chat centre. you do not have to be suicidal to reach out, they are there to talk if you are seeking someone to talk to, and they are trained counsellors who answer the calls or respond to the chats: [https://telljp.com/lifeline/](https://telljp.com/lifeline/). From their website, their hours are everyday of the week, opening at 9am and end at 11PM, but are available for online chat on weekends until 2AM. Their website has some great mental health resources, as well as a search bar that is location-specific that can help you find lawyers, counsellors, medical/health clinics that speak english, etc
2. MEDICAL HEALTH: AMDA Medical Information Centre: this call centre exists to help you find english-speaking medical institutions for you in japan. their number is 03-6233-9266 and they are open monday – friday 10AM – 4PM. if you make an appointment, they even offer translation/interpretation over the phone while you are at your medical appointment! 3. MENTAL HEALTH: Yorosoi hotline: This line offers free consultation on visa issues, counselling, and more in many languages on the phone, facebook messenger, and online chat on their website. The languages on their website: English, Tagalog, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Thai, Vietnamese, Nepali, Indonesian and the other languages. If you call, Press 2 after the japanese guidance automatic voice machine, and it will take you to an english-speaking staff member. it’s confidential and toll free. 4. MEDICAL HEALTH: Tokyo Himawari website offers medical information across Japan in english. you can find a clinic or pharmacy to suit your needs and location: [https://www.himawari.metro.tokyo.jp/qq13/qqport/tomintop/](https://www.himawari.metro.tokyo.jp/qq13/qqport/tomintop/)

Finally, a note on emergencies: it can be really stressful and adding a language barrier can make things difficult. Please know that the police is 110, fire and ambulance is 119. An English interpreter can sometimes be available if you call 119. Call tracing is available, so if you call police but cannot communicate, they can usually track your location within 30 seconds. I hope no one ends up having to use this emergency information, but it is always safe to have on hand should you need it.

If anyone has more updated information that what I have put here, or any resources to add, please do so!
