Build House In Japan

Does anyone have any experience with buying land and building a house? I essentially want to understand how prohibitive it may be and any particular pitfalls to look out for.

I understand building a house in any country is complex but are there any reasons why I should absolutely keep away from this idea?

  1. Well, when I had wanted to venture into this, I was told that most of the contractors had migrated to the tsunami-laden territory for work, and the price of wood had gone up because it is being hoarded. Also, price of labor had gone up due to the shortage of contractors, and labor forces.

Then the price of wood had gone up again in the midst of the pandemonium.

And finally, the price of wood had gone up again due to Japan stopping trade with Russia.

Is it cost prohibitive? For a medium income family it sure is, you will not be able to build the regular rectangular eco-house short of 40,000,000 yennies.

With the rising cost of heating, I don’t really know if heated flooring is the way to go, anyway.
