Where Should a Low-Intermediate Learner Start?

Hey all,

So I’ve been learning with Duolingo for a while and am about halfway through the tree. I am at the point where I can read a simple manga with the help of a dictionary, but I want to start stepping up my learning because I am hoping to plan a trip to Japan sometime next year. I was wondering which resources I should use to begin studying more seriously. I don’t want to start with beginner stuff because I feel I am already somewhat past that, so what are some good resources that are either at low-intermediate level, or meet you where you are? Thanks

  1. Three questions: How many kanji do you know? How many words do you know? Do you understand complex sentences?

I doubt you are intermediate and without your dictionary you would not be likely to finish a book of anything out of Shonen Jump alone. Most times people think that they are intermediate when they have less vocab than an elementary school student. Even if you finish Duolingo you are not even going to be N3 level.
