“We are only sorry, if we get something for it”. I am sure, this apology is from the bottom of their hearts, yeah right.

Well, it’s good that Japan is at least honestly responding to Korean efforts to resuscitate their bilateral relationship.
“Upholding an apology” is a strange concept
The Japanese government simply acknowledges that the apologies it has made in the past still remain in force. It has maintained “its apology” in the past. It is not adding a new apology. However, many Koreans believe that the Japanese have never apologized, so I think there is some value in that.
On the other hand, I am sure that most Koreans will forget “the apology” just as quickly as before. After all, nothing will change. The anti-Japanese sentiment in Korea will never waver.
I’m Korean, and this is precisely the problem I have with the Japanese government. A conditional apology is basically even worse than a non-apology apology or not apologizing at all. You either apologize fully, or you don’t. No matter what Korea says, Japan should apologize without condition, including not using the word “regret” anywhere in the official statement. And THEN, things can move forwards. Until then, the Japanese government can go fuck off.
Hey man, im Japanese. And I just wanna send love your way. I don’t like the Japanese government either.
