How can I keep my PR valid with low upkeep cost when leaving

Long story shortNow I am planning to leave Jp for a while ( 3 to 5 years), although I also hope to keep my PR visa so try to compress my budget as low as possible
Personal conditions :
\* I am single and have no relatives domestically
\* I know I need keep a real address at least, though I have no needs to live so how possible
to register in a sharing house or even abandoned house (空き家 )
\* I alreadly apply mutipletime re-enter permit

  1. You actually can stop residency and keep your PR if you say you intend to come back within 5 years. The advantages of this is:
    – no “upkeep” in Japan. You don’t need to keep an address, don’t need to keep paying pension/health insurance etc.
    – it would also help your case if you want to lose your status as a resident for tax purposes. But this is complicated and also depends on your home country.

Why you would still want to keep an address:
    – you want to retain Japanese bank accounts and other amenities such as a mobile phone number, 個人事業主, etc.
    – if you give up your address, you must come back TO LIVE within 5 years if you want to keep your PR. (edit) If you have an address here it’s easier to come and go since you are still a resident.

For cheap ways of keeping an address, I guess you could find a place in a small town that’s really cheap to rent, or a guesthouse. You could buy a property (btw, it’s “abandoned” house) but the really cheap ones you hear on the news usually have conditions attached ie you need to renovate it.
