Need help with a recipe

Hi all, I haven’t cooked a Japanese dish from scratch before but bought these ingredients today and would like to give it a shot.

I didn’t have a recipe in mind whilst buying these, but I think udon with the light brown broth dishes look delicious. Not sure if I have the right stuff or enough ingredients but I’d be happy to nip back to the shops to gather more stuff if need be.

From what I have, is there anything I can make?

Thanks

  1. Follow the instructions on the miso soup base package, adding torn mushrooms to the pot as the soup heats. (I like tearing wild mushrooms.) Cook the udon noodles separately, drain, and pour into your serving bowl. Add diced tofu to the noodles. Pour miso soup over the noodles. Garnish with sliced green onion. Put away the mirin, hoisin, and egg.

  2. Hoisin sauce is more a staple of Chinese cuisine. Don’t know when you’d ever use it in Japanese cooking.
