It doesn’t teach grammar and definition points well. It’s better to avoid it and use something like Anki.
It’s a tool that’s better used when you already have a basic foundation to drill the concepts you know.
Search “duolingo” in this sub, and even the shitty Reddit search can bring you more than enough of what you’re looking for.
I wouldn’t use it as your primary source of learning. But, I like it for some quick daily practice.
I use it to practice things I already learnt via other means.
To use it to learn new things is infuriating because it doesn’t teach the actual grammatical constructs. It just throws them at you and you are expected to just “know” how to apply it in any situation other than the precise examples given.
Lingodeer’s japanese course was way better with regards to those game-ified app based platforms
