ヨーロッパのブラジル?
Just another European country? It’s pretty far away and Japanese people don’t know much about other countries
I know.
not japanese, but only experience I heard of Portugal coming up was with tempura and that little star shaped candy that’s portuguese
I think the answer is that most do not.
Kids learn about Francis Xavier in Social Studies/History classes, who was a Catholic missionary that spent time in Japan. Ask any highschool student who *Furansisko Zabieru* is.
Also, the *Tanegashima* arquebus long guns (the first ever mass adopted firearm in Japan) were famously introduced by the Portuguese, which led to some decisive battles in Japanese history, e.g. the [Battle of Nagashino](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Nagashino).
More modern examples would undoubtedly be soccer and the Portuguese league.
