Who do you guys have? have winning?

  1. I got Taichi I think he is a fresh challenger for Okada and he needs something to establish himself now that he has a faction.

  2. I only just realised Hikuleo isn’t in the tournament. There goes my first pick.

Taichi isn’t a bad shout, but i’m going to go with David Finlay. He got to the finals against Ospreay in 2020 (or 2021) and he beat Shingo in the G1 last year.

  3. My favourites to win are Naito, Taichi, Sanada, Shota and Narita it’s probably cheating to have this many favourites, but it feels very up in the air this year, I wouldn’t be shocked if none if those guys won.

Was Zack the general favourite to win last years njc? From the what I saw he wasn’t.

I think Okhan could ve a dark horse he doesn’t really have anything going on right now and hasn’t for a while, and he’s been in the company for a couple years now.

  4. My top 3 are Taichi, Tama Tonga, and Sanada, in that order.

Taichi has more than earned a title shot, and he has excellent chemistry with Okada (as demonstrated by their NJC match last year).

Tama has been super over with the crowds as a white meat babyface and has been putting on good matches as Never champ (also has great chemistry with Kazu).

Wouldn’t mind giving Sanada something to do, as he really is a high level performer, and maybe with a win will come a change in character (sigh, unlikely tho).

  5. So many comments say Taichi, that’s who I would like but SANADA needs to do something. But honestly there are so many I’d be happy with.

  6. Started doing my own hypotheticals… I saw one side has a really interesting Tama Tonga elevation arc possible … But there’s no big BC monster to slay. Who could Tama face to get that push, Naito?

  7. I want to say GOK. I could see them also heating up Cobb again. It feels too fast for Shota but who knows.

  8. I’m sold on Naito or O’khan right now but Taichi would be interesting. I don’t think it’s Ospreay, I feel like they’re saving him to win the G1.

  9. SANADA wins in the most ruthless way possible. Naito will come out to congratulate SANADA after the finals only for SANADA to put up the too sweet into the Cold Skull.

Wait a second, this sounds familiar.

  10. I think Ospreay wins but tbh there are three interesting finals. Ospreay vs Shingo, taichi vs Zack and Zack vs Naito. Out of those three I think ospreay shingo makes the most sense as a clear banger with ospreay going over to challenge for the belt. As a wild card I also offer Sanada vs Zack with Sanada going over and overcoming his slump.

  11. There’s a lot of interesting matchups here that sets up a lot for the future. With Jay White gone, I see ELP getting the upset over Naito and getting a win over Owens to establish himself as a possible BC leader. However he falls short to Taichi who goes on to meet Will Ospreay in the semifinals in a rematch from last month. Ospreay’s journey is all United Empire as he faces Davis and Cobb (who defeated Narita). Taichi defeats Ospreay to even their score and hopefully sets up another meeting in the G1.

The other side is a little harder to predict imo. I’d like Fletcher to beat both Yoshi-Hashi and Goto to earn Aussie Open a title match. Fletcher falls short to Takagi who defeats both Henare and Tama Tonga (earning himself a future NEVER title shot). I’m happy to see Shota finally facing a true heel. It’ll help him in the baby face department. Umino beats Takahashi, but gets outsmarted by ZSJ. Finlay has luck on his side again in the cup and gets wins over Ishii and GOK, but also gets outsmarted by ZSJ. Champion vs champion in the semifinals as ZSJ faces Takagi in a hard fought match that ZSJ wins.

Just like I was hoping for last year, but I think this year is more plausible: A Tekkers final. An emotional match that pushes both men to their limit where Taichi defeats ZSJ and establishes himself as a true contender in the upper card/main event scene for the time to come. He’d come up short against Okada, but I’d like to see Taichi get one of the other singles titles sometime before the G1.

  12. Umino beats Phantasmo in the finals, save Phantasmo for the title match at Dontaku for bc’s 10 yr anniversary

  13. I’m thinking shota wins, then loses to okada. Or at least makes it hella far. The whole plot of the naito match was about how he’s good, but not good enough yet and I think they’ll want to show

He’s closer now, but not enough to win the title match

That or taichi because the dude just has earned it

A lot of guys like ospreay I see being saved for dominion or the g1. The cups usually more for surprises or midcarders.

I can also see a surprise heel turn win. With someone pulling an evil and joining bullet club in the finals. Now that jay is gone
