Hello,
I have been looking for jobs while on a language school student visa. My residence card still has 3 months left, but I graduate next month. As I understand it, the moment you graduate you must leave Japan immediately- like the next day.
If I get a job offer and I can’t get my work visa in time for the start date – is it possible to legally stay in Japan during this buffer period where I’ve already applied for the job visa but am no longer a student of the school. Or does my student status remain intact so long as my residence card has time left until expiration?
I heard the 就職活動 may take a month to process while means there’s a probability even if I apply today I may not get it in time.
Any info anyone can provide would be appreciated.
Thanks

If you already applied you can legally stay in japan with any of your previous visa type until you receive a response from the immigration office.
If you still haven’t applied tho, then you have ~~2 weeks~~ 1 month after graduation to either leave japan or apply for a visa change.
