Activities while learning the language

Hello, Been learning Japanese for awhile and been wondering, what do people do other than Learn the language ? as someone who is just learning it out of interest, what would be a thing to do while learning the language ? rather than just learning it, i have tried Furigana manga but i can’t get too far with it. Sometimes it gets kinda boring just doing Kanji only on the day so wondering if there are stuff that can keep it going

  1. Lots of things! You mentioned manga, obviously there’s also anime, JDramas, videogames (gacha, etc), I watch a lot of Japanese Youtube too. Also, you can download some apps like iTalki or join a language group and talk to people! Learning about others is always pretty interesting. Language is just a means to an end. Because honestly you need these kinds of interests outside of just solely ‘learning’ in order to keep going, otherwise A) what’s the point and B) you’ll lose interest.

  3. Lately I am googling lyrics to songs I already like, and study the kanji and grammar structures from that. I try to do that at least once a week

    But be careful what you wish for. In some cases I ended up liking the music less because the lyrics are so dumb lol

    As for video – there are some specific animes that are better for studying than others. Some are just cringe and way out there, hard to recommend. I suppose the same can be said for music, but it has the dual purpose of preparing you for karaoke where sounding crazy and stupid is encouraged

  4. Karaoke is really fun and you can practice your reading speed, there is a lot of channels on youtube
