Search engines return a plethora of sponsored ads and dodgy looking sources so this is my last resort.
Are there any good resources to find tax preparers or accountants that can file and answer questions on filing US taxes specifically for those of us living in Japan?
Preferably affordable but not strictly necessary.

H&R Block, if you can get someone who knows the expat angle.

Curious: having been here a while, what is it that you think makes the japan angle is specifically necessary–that the accountant/CPA would need to know about japan? (vs. any other country)
I get mine done with Expat Tax Japan. Been using them for a number of years now. They’re prompt, polite, ask questions to make sure you’re entirely covered cause they know what they’re looking out for even if you don’t.
They’re pricey, but the peace of mind is worth the cost to me, and my taxes are done each year in just a couple of emails. I’d recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone willing to pay for tax help.
