How to send a package in Japan

I need to return a package to Amazon, but I’ve never sent any packages in Japan so I’d appreciate your help. I already have a Yu-pack and printed the return address/bar code, but don’t know what to do next. Step-by-step instructions without being ridiculed would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  1. Stick the return address which you printed out off of Amazon’s website onto any envelope/package/box you want and go to the nearest post office. Go to the window and take a number (if necessary). When it is your turn give them the package, say “kore okuritai desu” and they will do the rest.

  2. To send a package with Japan Post, you can follow these steps:

Prepare your package: Make sure your package is securely packed and properly labeled. You should also ensure that the contents of the package comply with Japan Post’s shipping guidelines.

Determine the shipping method: Japan Post offers several shipping methods, including EMS, ePacket, SAL, and Airmail. You should choose the one that best suits your needs and budget.

Calculate the shipping cost: The cost of shipping will depend on several factors, including the shipping method, the weight of the package, and the destination. You can use Japan Post’s online shipping calculator to estimate the cost.

Visit a post office: Take your package to the nearest post office and fill out the necessary shipping forms. Make sure to provide accurate information, including the recipient’s name and address.

Pay for shipping: You can pay for shipping at the post office. Japan Post accepts cash, credit cards, and other payment methods.

Receive a tracking number: After you pay for shipping, you will receive a tracking number that you can use to track your package’s progress.

Send your package: Japan Post will handle the rest, and your package will be on its way to the recipient.

It’s important to note that some restrictions apply to shipping certain items, so be sure to check Japan Post’s shipping guidelines before sending your package.

  3. You can also do the return via yamato.

    You can either

    1. Go to a 711 -> Ask for chakubarai denpyo -> Fill up the invoice -> Give it back to the cashier
    2. Call yamato -> Request for a pickup -> Tell the you have no invoice -> if accepted wait for them to pickup on the request date&time
    3. Email yamato to request for pickup (don’t have details on the contents of the mail but you can easily search it up) -> They will usually reply acknowledging the pickup

EDIT: also place the print out inside the box
