HomeSushiThis is $130 worth of sashimi from America’s most northern sushi restaurant: Osaka Restaurant in Utqiagvik, Alaska. This salmon was damn delicious.
That sure is expensive! In my area I’d say it’s $30-$35 (Bay Area, CA)
I went up there for my birthday and had a blast. Walked on the Arctic Ocean, saw some polar bears, and yeah… had some ok but extremely expensive sashimi. For context though a gallon of apple juice was $33.
Everything looks so delicious and fresh 😍
I’m sure it was, so was the restaurant’s profit
It definitely looks delicious.
I went to Barrow a couple years ago because my friend and I were curious to check it out at the end of a Fairbanks-Anchorage trip. At the supermarket it was around $40 for a watermelon and $30 for a pack of waters😂 that’s actually more sushi than I’d expect for $130 there. Fascinating place. I remember trying to go to the sushi place but it was closed for some reason.
Forgive my ignorance, but isn’t there an abundance of fresh salmon and crab around Alaska? Why would wouldn’t a local sushi restaurant make use of the amazing fresh local ingredients?
I could buy a lot, a lot a lot of sushi for $130.
Great
Jelly like fuck
I see izumidai aka Talipia by the shimrp 130$ is worth it 🤙🤙🤙
Jesus. I’d send it back. To the ocean if possible. That’s got no business being called sashimi.
Delivering farmed salmon to the ends of the earth seems really sustainable and smart, right?!?!
That’s like $35 worth in my city. Damn that’s expensive af
