Hi there,
I have been going to a Japanese language school during the day but for work reason I will have to stop. I passed JLPT N4 and intended to continue until reaching N2, so I am now looking for a substitute. I am thinking of some correspondence courses or online classes. For example Kumon seems interesting. Do you have some other recommendations?
For those who suggest to self study: I tried before but never got very far, I need something to force myself to keep going on, otherwise I will give up.

Try looking at the town hall, I know a lot of places offer free Japanese classes to people who are new to Japan.
I use duo lingo to practice daily. Maybe try that also.
I’ve been doing correspondence Kumon for a while now and am pretty happy with it. I started at intermediate, so can’t say much about the early levels, but overall I’ve found it has helped my reading and vocabulary a great deal. I have plenty of opportunities to speak Japanese in my daily life, it might not be as good a fit if you find it hard to put yourself out there and talk with people while you are out and about since there’s not a speaking component.
