Moving from sasebo to yokosuka next year, am I able to register my 1994 hilux, diesel, in yokosuka? I have heard yes and no from many people, but cant find a good answer online.
On your shakenjo there should be a particle density measurement for the exhaust. Check if it’s higher than the allowable level for Kanagawa.
Since you already own it and have it registered as long as it meets the emissions requirements you can register it. If it doesn’t you can get it modified with a particle trap to meet the requirements (so expensive I got rid of my land cruiser). Alternatively you can drive it until the old registration expires then get rid of it.
Can you read Japanese? If so, check your registration title. In the lower part has a comment mentioning the NOx/PM restricted areas. In there it says if your car can be used in the restricted areas or not, and Yokosuka apparently is included in those areas.
I do have a diesel SUV in kanagawa but it is not from 1994 so I guess it is a possibly
Isn’t a Hilux a pickup truck? Is that classified as an SUV?
