Adjectives on imabi

Hello,

I am new to japanese and I just got to adjectives on imabi. I’ve heard that there are i and na ones but he calls it differently? and it’s confusing me (lesson 14-15 https://www.imabi.net/beginnersi.htm). Can someone explain or recommend any other resource. Thanks,

  1. Just took a quick look….by different, do you mean the word 形容詞 (i adjectives)? and 形容動詞 (na-adjectives or adjectival noun)? It’s just another name for them….but they do essentially mean i and na adjectives…

I havent really used that resource before…when I learned adjectives I used [this one](https://www.thoughtco.com/all-about-japanese-adjectives-4058703). after going through it I just became more familiar by just encountering them while reading.

If you do have translation questions for a single word, typing them into [jisho.org](https://jisho.org) might help

  2. imabi is very linguistics heavy, if you don’t want to learn the japanese names for parts of speech, it might be a bit much. it’s an excellent resource, but it’s dense. try tae kim’s guide or pick up genki 1.

  3. Imabi occupies a weird spot in that I absolutely love it to death as a reference, but at the same time, it’s one of the last resources I would ever recommend to a new beginner as their primary go-to for a guide through learning the language. This thread right here is kinda why.

For you, I would recommend sticking to other more traditional and less content heavy resources like Genki, Tae Kim, Cure Dolly, etc.
