And the other day I was going out and about in the city and my phone died I had my power bank on me put after using it for a couple of days it had no juice as well.
So I was wondering what are the places to go to in this kind of situation?!

  1. Most cafes will have an outlet, Starbucks definitely have, even if they don’t have at each table. Just ask at the register, and buy a coffee

Convenience stores sometimes has an eat-in area you can use if you bought something, and they have outlets sometimes.

Most convenience stores and stations have power banks to rent as well.

  2. You can rent power banks at a conbini. As for cafes and such, look for a plug pictogram in the window or at the door. If it’s a chain outlet there is a high chance they’ll have real outlets or USB ones available. Maybe not at every table but definitely at counter seating by the wall. If that’s not your jam look for your local library, they might have seating like that as well and you can read a two week old Time magazine while you wait.

  3. Go to cafe / Starbucks / Dotour / Tully’s / Library and see if they have power plugs for charging. Also, if you are near Odori station, there is a charging station near Aurora town entrance (looks like a white plastic box with blue LEDs, also you can rent powerbank. There are other places in town with power bank rentals.

Personally, I would bet your phone and power bank had some juice, just need to take them out of cold. batteries drain if you leave phone and powerbank in outside pocket.

  4. Most combinis will have a little bank where you can fast charge your phone for a few hundred yen.

  5. The ChargeSPOT app is good for renting powerbanks at different places, but you need your phone to be alive in order to use the service. Otherwise yeah, cafes have seats with outlets.

  6. If its a super emergency you can go to any place with a public toilet and unplug the washlet and use that outlet. Just remember to plug it back in when done.
