I read the first three ふしぎ駄菓子屋銭天堂 and they are pretty easy for beginners (like me…)
Sakuraba Kazuki and Ogawa Yoko are two authors I like who aren’t as widely translated as I think they should be.
I’ve got two books written by Edogawa Rampo that I believe are a bunch of short stories. You can find at least one of the them at the local bookstore if you live in Japan, if not I can do research for Amazon links perhaps
Just check whatever the current trending books are in Japan at any given moment.
ruri dragon. easiest way to get it is just ebay, but it will be a while until it comes. make sure to double, tripple, and quadruple check it’s in japanese. someone recommended it to me, and as a beginner it’s helped alot
I recently read 殺人出産 by sayaka murata which is a messed up, v chilling but also coldly unemotional/non moralising dystopian story about a system where to counter plummeting birth rates people who give birth to 10 children get to legally kill one person consequence free
