Prime Minister to launch tourism promotion measures in June to “restore normalcy”…Seeking, for example, to reopen “GoTo”.

1. 　Prime Minister Kishida gave a speech in Osaka City on May 21, indicating his intention to launch a tourism promotion program in June. He said, “After firmly maintaining the medical care delivery system, from next month or so, various activities, including border measures and tourism, will return to normalcy.”　

   The government will relax its border measures, including raising the daily limit on the number of visitors from the current 10,000 to 20,000, effective June 1. The government plans to announce soon when it will begin accepting foreign tourists in earnest. The government is also believed to be exploring the reopening of the “Go To Travel” tourism support program.

2. I know Go To became a meme during the height of the pandemic, but it honestly saved me a ton of money and let me visit areas I wouldn’t have gone to otherwise.

   So, at least this guy’s looking forward to saving some more money even if the the rest of the Japan related subreddits mock it.

3. Sounds good. June at least gives them enough time to see what shit Golden Week has unleashed upon us.

4. They keep using the word normalcy. Is normalcy full tourism? Or normalcy still tour groups? I don’t know why it’s still so ambiguous. Is this the government’s fault or a fault of the translation?
